A bad religion has answers for every important question in your life, even if the answers are forced and doubtful. You will know for sure what to do to skip hell. You will feel safe and secured; you’re not tortured with confusion, a feeling of being lost, and a feeling of not knowing.
A good religion doesn’t answer your questions, because it simply has no answers for them. It promotes reflection, creates a seeker, a searcher. It makes you feel alone, lost, and bleak. Because you don’t know what to do, you may not even know who God is. It keeps you constantly moving, searching for the real God, a new sight that changes you forever.
Finally, you will have to choose, comfort or authenticity?
Nice metaphors Hub,
ReplyDeletenevertheless, according your former post, religion-car, sometimes people get in the convenient zone whereas religion answers their questions hence their anxiety, how would people get inside the car if they know it doesn't provide a convenient as well as the answers? At least people could get inside first, thus they are covered from the rain... Then from inside we are the driver, therefore God provides cars...
Yes. As a matter of a fact, I do believe that religions are necessary. We need religions at the very early stages of our lives. Because they open your mind and tell you that there's something deeper, bigger, more profound in this world. Something relevant.
ReplyDeleteBut that's it. That's the only thing they are good for. Start from there, it's your own journey. Sticking with your religion will poison your mind, harden it, and stop you from finding something.
There's a good story from a book I read.
-start-
There's this spiritual teacher, and he said, "Religions can bring you to God, and take you away from Him."
A man was not very pleased with his remark, so he asked, "How can something that brings you closer to God, take you away from Him?"
Apparently, the man rode a camel to the teacher's house. So, the teacher said, "The camel you used to get yourself here, is not the right mean to take you inside the house."

I couldn't agree more. Religions are needed for a stage. That's it. It's not the final truth.
Besides, it's enlightenment, awareness, love that you want right? Not some stupid laws or fairy tales that are irrelevant to life.
